FLOODrisk 2008 Conference

Over 250 people have registered for FLOODrisk 2008, which will be held in Oxford, UK from 30 September to 2 October. Over 200 papers have been accepted, and the keynote speakers are David Rooke (Environment Agency), Elisabeth Lipiatou (European Commission), Gerry Galloway (University of Maryland) and Jentsje van der Meer (Van der Meer Consulting). FLOODsite at the SAFE Conference, Istanbul, January 2008

SAFE is an FP6-funded project designed to stimulate, encourage and facilitate the participation of organisations from the New Member States in the activities of the Environmental thematic priority of FP7. Its final two-day conference entitled "Participate in FP7 Research for the Environment" was held on the 9th and 10th of January 2008 in Istanbul, Turkey, as Danuta Lesniewska of FLOODsite Polish partner IBW reports.

The HyMeX Project

One of the important international actions identified in the evaluation of the FLOODsite Year 4 report is the HyMeX project coordinated from France. Our research on flash floods in particular can contribute usefully to HyMeX and FLOODsite team members from France, Spain and Italy amongst others are linked to the HyMeX initiative.
