FAQ

In November 2007, the Parliament and Council of the European Union published the wording of a new European Directive on the assessment and management of flood risks.  FLOODsite is listed as one of the European actions which support the Directive.

Details of the new Directive and how FLOODsite will contribute towards the implementation of the Directive may be found here.

Details of the 35 distinct tasks within the overall research programme, also linking to project outputs and related projects.

Seven Pilot Study Sites have been established within FLOODsite. These include river, estuary and coastal locations with some of the river locations being subject to flash floods.  The purpose of the Pilot Sites is to provide real locations with real problems that participate as an integrated part of the research and development work.

FLOODsite is an EC 6th Framework Programme Integrated Project, undertaking research of over €14M value through 37 partner organisations and over 250 individual researchers. A well defined structure for project management has been established to ensure quality research delivered on time and to budget. Details of the management structure and roles can be found here.

View an Executive Summary providing a concise description of the FLOODsite Project, aims and objectives.

View the Project Vision, established by the project Management Team at the start of FLOODsite.

FLOODsite aims to deliver tools and methodologies to support integrated flood risk analysis and management. All publicly available material may be accessed here.

The FLOODsite Team comprises over 250 researchers drawn from 37 partner organisations. Details of partner organisations and their role in the project may be accessed here.

With such an extensive programme of research an organised and structured approach to dissemination is required to ensure maximum value is achieved from the research. Details of the FLOODsite Communication and Dissemination strategy may be found here.
