Task 19 has produced four key outputs:
- A document detailing the development of a framework for flood event management;
- A prototype Decision Support System known as the Flood INcident Tactical and Operational Framework (FLINTOF) was piloted in the Thamesmead embayment of the Thames Estuary in the UK (see also Task 24);
- A prototype Decision Support System for evacuation planning called the Evacuation Support System (ESS) was developed for the Walcheren and Zuid-Beveland areas of the Schelde Estuary in The Netherlands (see also Task 25); and
- A two-dimensional modelling approach for preparing flood event management plans and for selecting building locations and access routes, tested in two urban areas in France.
The findings from this task and the new approaches presented are of great value to engineers, scientists and planners involved in emergency planning for floods, flood event management and spatial planning.
In addition to the text presented on these web pages, a separate CD-Rom was produced by Task 17 and Task 19, the content of which can be accessed here
